So she learned how to grow up on her own, how to carry her own emotions, and how to gather herself back together piece by piece after being hurt. Later, people praised her for being independent, but very few knew that some kinds of strength are not a choice—they are survival. This photograph is dedicated to the person who always says, “I’m fine,” and to the little girl hidden where no one can see, who still quietly longs to be held.
