“Gazing upon the Future, my Heart Rests in the Past.” “The Dhampir House” is a profound dissection of my personal psychological state. Drawing inspiration from the aesthetics of Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust, the work aims to express the complex inner conflict of both aspiring toward the future and being unwilling to let go of cherished memories of the past. The 'Dhampir' in the title symbolizes the individual's transitional state, caught between the past and the future, between reason and emotion. In the work, the puppet is situated in a Gothic-style hall. Though the symbol of modern society—a towering steel jungle—is visible outside the window, the puppet chooses to look away, the sight failing to capture its attention or stir its soul. This suggests that in an age where the internet and technology bring the entire world into view, I choose instead to immerse myself in the moving memories of the past, remaining utterly indifferent to the cold landscape of the future. For the technique, I use neon reds and purples to render the future city outside the window, while constructing the hall using dark, moody blood-red and black tones. This is followed by the dramatic interplay of vivid red and white to create strong lighting contrasts, enhancing the visual tension. By fusing elements from two distinct eras—the antique and the modern—the work successfully achieves a unique Gothic Punk aesthetic.
