The intangible and tangible aspects of my life and the way in which I live are central to my process. Whether it be fragments of reality or fantasy, my muse can come from the senses or sensitivity, a teaching, relationships in between, speculation, a series of movements, footprints of touching in mind, thoughts, day-to-day inspiration, a sum of words like verse, issue or a touch of anticipation.......etc, all perceptions and understandings remain in my head, waiting for a chance to be released. Following careful operation in my mind, these ideas will distill into clear forms or an authoring of kinetic energy, both in a natural manner. In turn, this forces me to realize them via all kinds of media, allowing the creative conversion to unfold before me. Thereupon, I can see a truly harmonious state in my own consciousness.

A brief introduction of Kai-Hsing HUANG’s painting creation

Words by Kai-Hsing HUANG

For me, creative painting is a very regular activity that can never be interrupted, though it may expressively alter or evolve due to external material elements. Most of my paintings are created with oil paint and mixed media on canvas, supplemented with drawing on paper developed through special thought processes, concepts or materials. Simply put, they may be classified mainly into three categories: oil paint and mixed media on canvas, ink wash, and dry brush on paper. Each type of media becomes a world of its own, each with its own development and context, and each has its own existential necessity and evolutionary development timeline.

1)‧ Painting

My works on canvas have developed a rich presence and various series of morphological changes. (Of course, it is evident that they all come from the same artist.) Even though most of my works are classified as abstract paintings, this type of presentation method is not entirely an emotional expression on a whim for me. Instead, it is based on certain theoretical concepts and a long-period of practice. Even though the process takes time, there is a rich and stable contemplation basis, development trend, and purpose, which does not deviate from its intended course due to external effects.

2)‧Drawing

My drawing on paper developed through special thought processes, concepts or materials. I learned of this technique in 2012, and became enthralled. Personally, there is some other significance. Currently, she engages mostly in three types of creative works, mainly oil painting and mixed media on canvas, supplemented with ink wash, and works on paper.

‘Kai-Hsing Huang has a reserved and calm appearance but is actually a bold and creative artist with a penetrating vision and experimental spirit. She boldly experiments with different materials and media in her creative work and enriches her art with literary and philosophical allusions. She has recently created a series of pieces made from bamboo paper. She fully exploits the unique properties of this type of paper to produce works of art with a unique charm and oriental connotations. Observers are quickly drawn into her paintings which convey a sense of doubt, comfort, gravity, fantasy, mystery, and violent forces of nature, exhibiting the passionate energy and imagination of a young artist. Following the display of her art and the accumulation of rich experience, her works will integrate a deeper and more mature meaning. We firmly believe that her exhibition gives viewers a keen awareness of this artist’s inherent potential.’ Quotation from 99° Art center Taipei

‘Kai-Hsing Huang’s abstract creations draw their inspiration from ordinary life. Bursts of creativity are accompanied by aesthetic rhythms of a musical and poetic quality. These artistic interfaces are also imbued with a fusion of thoughts, desire, and energy, manifesting a deep and passionate visual meaning driven by a natural eruption of spiritual energy, which represents the charm of her work.’ Quotation from Tao Wen-Yueh ,Artist/Art critics

‘Featuring a series of abstract paintings, Kai-Hsing's distinctively expressionist style with subtle bursts of colour, are formulated by the artist's experiences and sensitivities. Kai-Hsing Huang paints from her mind, her soul, and her senses - her work is inspired by the subtle and finer encounters she comes across daily, developing a sensitive perception to the world around her, whether that be a tangible reality or an intangible fantasy. Taste, touch, smell and thought are formulated in the artist's mind, their harmonious fusion is then released as kinetic energy into ultimately beautiful, lyrical, abstract paintings. Throughout each painting, a flow of spontaneous colours and textures form visual creations - the subject is not important, as Kai-Hsing has broken down any form of objectivity to pure painting, the allegory lies in the emotional expression.’ Quotation from The Brick Lane Gallery London

For more information: www.kaihz.com
