Description

As a artist, I began infusing the minutiae of daily life into my creative works after the pandemic, trying to brew up a concoction that captures the quirky essence of our shared anxieties with a dash of humor. Last year's egg shortage struck a chord with me, particularly as the designated grocery procurer for my household. From the barren egg shelves in supermarkets to the anxious speculation before entering convenience stores about the availability of tea eggs, and the hesitance over the serene but pricey premium chicken eggs, it was a saga that resonated deeply. The lush, amber hue of the egg yolk gently swirls and permeates, akin to a soft-bodied creature enveloping my thoughts. Consequently, I find it imperative to utilize this hue as a means to alleviate the anguish of desire, enfolding each frame in sweetness to illustrate the ceaselessly undulating pressures beneath ostensibly mundane visages, thus elucidating the ineffable shared experiences of life."

Artist Introduction

Lien Shu Wen(a.k.a. Cecilia Lien) was born in New Taipei City, Taiwan. She received a master's degree from the New Media Arts Department of Taipei National University of the Arts. She has worked as a 3D animator, and then taught at Hsuan Chuang University. In 2019, she became obsessed with oil painting creation, and received the Yunlin Culture and Art Award in 2023.
Her works use the unconventional and humorous perspectives, combined with current events, dreams, and little fragments of daily life, to express the feelings of contemporary life where the boundaries between reality and virtuality are gradually blurring.
