I hope that people will always see constant light and lasting beauty in my work. I want you to know who you are and how powerful you are. I want you to enjoy the experience of being yourself. I want us to gaze at each other and smile under the colorful sunset, to have our wishes fulfilled among the nebulae. You can, you can, you can, enjoy your miracle here.

As an Eastern artist, especially one based in Taiwan, the development of my position and philosophy is often free-spirited and full of liberty, but also carries a somewhat conservative aspect. Born in the millennium era in Taiwan, I experienced twenty years of ideological reform leading to a modern awakening of self-consciousness, along with the information explosion and societal transformations. Since my birth, my surroundings have been filled with advice and conflicts regarding Taiwan's national identity. Taiwan’s social foundation is rooted in traditional Eastern thought, but due to international developments, ideas of self-identity and liberation of personal awareness have gradually entered the scene. These two forces—the traditional and the modern—once deeply troubled me, creating a vast gap between the external environment and my internal self. I longed to harmoniously exist within my surroundings while being passionate about self-realization.Honestly, at that time, I didn't have a strong sense of national identity, nor was my understanding of self-definition clear. I greatly admired the Taoist philosophy of Laozi and Zhuangzi, while also being deeply inspired by the Western ideal of self-actualization in individualism. This dual influence left me confused for a while, until I encountered the works and life story of the great artist Wu Guanzhong. His experiences and creations struck me like a gentle, soft blow—yet one that hit hard. It was as if I saw a ray of light, guiding me toward where I needed to go. I gained a fresh imagination and motivation for my own position in creative work. Wu’s time studying in France allowed him to develop a painting style that was both soft and unique, harmoniously blending Eastern and Western art. He expressed his individuality while deeply loving his homeland and people, serving as a spiritual bridge between China and the West. Although Western culture and color theory influenced him, Wu once said, “I am Chinese. When I pick up my brush, I paint Chinese paintings.” He used his individual spirit to elevate Chinese culture, always remembering his roots and dedicating his life to giving back to his homeland. This has prompted me to reflect on my own unique position as a Taiwanese artist. It seems I, too, can merge the Eastern cultural philosophies of my past with Western ideals of self-realization, using this pivotal position to make Eastern culture flourish. From modern to contemporary Eastern art, I see a connection that can be made. It feels like it's time for Eastern art to truly blossom. In my work, you can see my reverence for Eastern philosophy, yet also my exploration of self-growth and realization. I hope that all Taiwanese people can understand why we should be proud—of Taiwan's uniqueness and inclusiveness. In the future, Taiwan will inevitably become a pivotal force in Eastern civilization, because the course of history has made it a country of gentle, unified, progressive openness—a true fusion of East and West. No longer do we need to prove who we are with a confrontational mindset. We will declare with triumph, "I am Taiwanese," proud of our society’s inclusivity and our will for self-actualization. We will one day make Eastern civilization shine brightly, realizing the vision in John Lennon’s Imagine—a world with no heaven, no hell, no war, no division of superiority. We will all be proud of our birth and country, while admiring and appreciating each other. The so-called paradise is here, in our every smile and gesture. We are the paradise.
